Register excerpt
Distributors, electronic marketplaces and fulfilment service providers are required to check if their business partners placing packaging filled with goods on the German market are registered in the LUCID Packaging Register. The Zentrale Stelle Verpackungsregister (Central Agency Packaging Register – ZSVR) provides a digital register excerpt for this purpose.

The register excerpt will not tell you if your business partners have participated in a system with their packaging that is subject to system participation. System participation has to be verified by other means – and the legislator has left it up to you to choose how. One possible way mentioned in the explanatory memorandum to the Verpackungsgesetz (Packaging Act) is to have your business partner present you with a certificate issued by a system. This certificate would serve to confirm that your business partner has entered into a system participation agreement.
Using the register excerpt function
- Go to registerabruf.verpackungsregister.org to create a login, and accept the Terms of Use.
- The ZSVR will then need to activate the register excerpt function. This may take a few days to complete.
- Once your login has been activated, you can access an XML file containing the following producer data:
- VAT number or taxpayer reference number
- Company name
- Registration number
- Details about packaging (subject to system participation and not subject to system participation)
