Explanation

Retail packaging for cutlery and cutting utensils in quantities of 500 items or fewer is subject to system participation because it typically accumulates as waste with private final consumers – i.e. private households and comparable sources of waste generation (within the meaning of section 3 (11) VerpackG) such as food and beverage businesses, commercial kitchens, canteens and accommodation establishments. Comparable sources of waste generation also include caterers whose packaging waste can be collected at the rate that is normally associated with private households in waste bins that do not exceed 1,100 litres ('volume criterion').

Shipment packaging for cutlery and cutting utensils of all kinds typically accumulates as waste with private final consumers – i.e. private households and comparable sources of waste generation and, as such, is subject to system participation.

Specials

Use of the system participation requirement catalogue requires that the item in question be packaging within the meaning of section 3 (1) VerpackG in conjunction with appendix 1 VerpackG.
