Packaging which is only partially suitable for recycling, or which cannot be recycled as well, will be more expensive in Germany as of next year. Today, the Zentrale Stelle Verpackungsregister (Central Agency Packaging Register) – the new authority responsible for packaging recycling control as of January 2019 – has unveiled preliminary Guidelines for the Assessment of the Recyclability of Packaging. The Guidelines, drafted in agreement with the German Environment Agency, will now be discussed with affected stakeholders as part of a consultation procedure.
